Membership

Do you already have experience in HEMA, modern fencing or reenactment? You're welcome to join us at any time. Please contact us.

Are you a beginner to armed martial arts? Please join us at one of our beginners' courses. We run these twice a year (one in Spring, one in Autumn) and they provide a introduction to historical fencing. Please contact us to be notified when sign ups for the next course begin.

We more than welcome visiting fencers from other HEMA/Historical Fencing clubs. Please get in contact and we'd love to have you visit us.

Please note we do not take beginners outside of the beginners' course. You must also be at least 18 years of age to participate.

Becoming a part of the OSS also gains you membership to our parent organisation; The Academy for Historical Arts. This not only allows you access to great discounts on selected products from them and other HEMA suppliers but it also opens up a vast network of contacts who are all specialists in one field of HEMA or another. You will also see great opportunities to attend HEMA events.

Becoming a member of the AHA also gains you membership with the British Martial Arts and Boxing Association (BMABA) which in turn grants cover from the BMABA Insurance Policies.
